Public statement on the future of NBP Retouch Tools plugins
A message from Nino Batista as of August 12, 2025:
NBP Retouch Tools has developed a suite of Photoshop plugins that have served thousands of photographers and retouchers worldwide since 2017. These tools were built to solve real workflow problems, and it’s been an honor to see how they’ve become part of so many artists’ creative processes.
However, the technology landscape has changed dramatically. The needs, expectations, and workflows of photographers have evolved, particularly with the rapid rise of AI-driven tools.
Since 2023, the demand for NBP panels has been steadily declining, and the trajectory makes continuing to produce them no longer viable from a business standpoint. My focus moving forward will be on the aspects of NBP that I believe provide the most creative flexibility and personal value: Photoshop Actions, Capture One Styles, and other innovative resources, tips, and techniques that keep you in control of your art.
And to also clarify, many in the industry dismiss Actions and Styles as nothing more than generic, “one-click” effects, you know, the kind of (often) cheesy “macros” that flood the market. NBP has proven, time and again, that well designed Actions and Styles can be extremely powerful, adaptable, and fully integrated into advanced workflows. In Photoshop, they can be customized, expanded, and adapted quickly to new Adobe changes and updates. In Capture One, Styles have grown even more capable thanks to recent feature additions, opening up new creative and technical possibilities. So prepare for more hugely powerful and hugely affordable Actions and Styles from NBP!
We’ll continue creating tools that show just how effective these resources can be, and we’ll keep providing training so photographers know exactly how to get the most out of them.
With that in mind, I am ending all Plugin sales effective immediately. There will be no further development or new features, but existing customers will continue to receive support for an extended period of time. No updates will be released, but I will remain available for a time to assist with installation issues, usage questions, and troubleshooting where possible.
The plugins have been an incredible chapter for NBP, and I’m deeply grateful for everyone who has used them, supported them, and shared them with others. As the industry continues to shift, NBP will keep evolving too, and always with the same commitment to empowering photographers with tools that respect their craft and creative vision.
