NBP Actions: Skin Texture Pro 4.2

NOTE: As of November 20, 2025, Adobe has fixed the bug in Photoshop 2026 (now v27.1) thus allowing their AI "Select People" function to work inside an Action. Be sure to update your Photoshop to v27.1 to avoid crashes with Actions that use "Select People", such as this one!

Skin Texture Pro 4 is the most refined version yet of NBP’s professional skin surface workflow Actions for Photoshop. Built for precision and control, STP4.1 gives you full "management" over the tactile qualities of skin including fine texture adjustments.

The small 4.2 update adds "texture manager" Actions, as well as manual texture extraction choices when running the core STP4 Action, giving you more control over how the multiband texture decomposition is generated for each image. Rather than relying entirely on predetermined settings, you can now tailor the extraction to the specific preferences, detail, and texture characteristics of the skin you're working with. A new accompanying video explains these settings, what they actually affect, and how to choose them to get exactly the texture management you want.

Beyond that, STP4 continues NBP’s proven system with Adobe-based AI masking, streamlined texture isolation, and dedicated control layers that preserve the nuances of texture and color. Did you use NBP SKN before?  With these Actions, essentially SKN wasn’t abandoned conceptually. The ideas behind it kept developing. Skin Texture Pro 4 and Skin Depth Pro 2 are essentially where that methodology went once I had another year to refine it, separate the functions properly, add Adobe AI skin selection functionality, and build them without the limitations of the old plugins layer stack calculations.
